Due to the flooding that has just occurred in Cedar Rapids, several self storage facilities are at full capacity with waiting lists as people are rushing to save all their items and get them into storage.
One facility in Cedar Rapids, Adam Storage, is a 100 unit self storage facility that has been getting up to 60 calls a day regarding storage unit rentals. Adams Storage has been at full capacity since June. Owner of Adams Storage said that citizens are eagerly trying to store their family heirlooms and pictures so they will not get lost during rebuilding or another flood.
Several people ran to family member’s homes to store their items, but that could end up as a disaster if their home floods too. Self Storage facilities have also been victims of the recent floods destroying several units of renter’s valuables. Besides household customers, several business are storing the contents of their store in hopes to save their assets. As well as contractors, who do not have work right now in the rainy season, need to store their tools and products.
